The History of True Brown Style 13 Worldwide: From Two Posse Groups to Global Transformation
In the early 1990s, two influential street groups emerged in urban communities: True Blunt Systah (TBS 1991) and the Original Hiphop Posse Brotherhood (OHPB 1993). Each group had its unique identity and reputation, marked by a tough street presence and involvement in various illicit activities. Both groups were deeply rooted in the local hip-hop culture, influencing the streets with their raw energy and street credibility.
In 1994, REY GALE aka Nato aka OG HOODAZ of Tandang Sora Hood was a friend and neighbor of late Joseph CeƱidoza (Jan.1981- May.2002) aka Joseph Saitan in Washington, Makati introduced his leader Don Lucas from True Blunt Systah (TBS-Galleria 1991) to Joseph Saitan and Maynard aka Dorobo. Recognizing their shared values and strength in unity, True Blunt Systa and OHPB decided to collaborate, merging their forces to form a new entity known as True Brown Style 13. This alliance marked the beginning of a new era for the members, who quickly gained notoriety as a formidable gang. Their combined influence and activities amplified their presence, making True Brown Style 13 a well-known name in their communities.
In early 1995, just before Don Lucas migrated to West Covina, Los Angeles, California, U.S.A., Joseph Saitan and Maynard Dorobo visited Don Lucas' place to formalize the leadership of the gang. During their discussion, it was decided that Joseph Saitan would become the president, with Maynard Dorobo stepping aside for him. As the gang grew that same year, Saitan and Dorobo appointed two additional leaders, Jenggo and Edward Estillo Uno, who, along with Saitan and Dorobo, were known as The Veteranos: Uno, Dos, Tres, and Cuatro. However, Jenggo eventually left the gang to join another group, leading to late Rhino Locco being designated as Veterano Tres. Joseph Saitan also decided to stop accepting women into the gang, believing that their presence caused conflict and strife among the members.
Conflict emerged when many longtime members of True Blunt Systah—such as Don Jasper, Angie, Rowena, Gealdy, Ogie, Rio, Ria, Michelle, and others who had significantly expanded TBS in the North (including Manila and Tondo)—were initially left out of discussions about the collaboration and name change. Since women were more prevalent back in Galleria, this led to misunderstandings and judgments from both sides. However, by 1996, these members were eventually informed and came to accept the changes, including the introduction of the "burn" practice.
As True Brown Style 13, the group continued to engage in various criminal activities, further cementing their reputation as a notorious gang. Their actions often led to violent confrontations, legal troubles, and a strained relationship with the community. Despite their power and influence, the consequences of their lifestyle began to weigh heavily on the members, leading to internal strife and a desire for change.
By the early 2000s, key figures within True Brown Style 13 started to recognize the destructive path they were on. Faced with increasing incarcerations, violence, and personal losses, they began to seek a way out of the cycle of crime and violence. This introspection led to a collective realization that a profound transformation was necessary for their survival and redemption.
In a bold and pivotal move, True Brown Style 13 rebranded itself as True Brown Style Worldwide. This rebranding symbolized their commitment to leaving behind their criminal past and embarking on a journey of positive change in and out of the country. The new identity reflected their dedication to community service, empathy, and personal growth.
As True Brown Style Worldwide, the group shifted its focus to engaging in meaningful community service initiatives. They organized charity events, youth mentorship programs, and neighborhood improvement projects. These efforts aimed to repair the damage caused by their previous actions and contribute positively to society. Their commitment to upholding the law and promoting humanity became the cornerstone of their new identity.
The transformation from a notorious gang to a respected community organization was not easy, but True Brown Style Worldwide's dedication to their mission gradually earned them the respect and trust of the community. Their story of redemption and positive impact served as an inspiration, demonstrating that change is possible even after a troubled past.
Today, True Brown Style Worldwide celebrates 30 years of transformation from their origins as True Blunt Systah and OHPB to their redefined identity as a force for good. Their journey is a testament to the power of resilience, unity, and the impact of positive change. As they look to the future, True Brown Style Worldwide remains committed to their mission of service, integrity, and the betterment of humanity, always remembering the profound transformation that shaped their legacy.
